Your Work Isn’t About the Outcome — It’s About the Joy of Creation

Create for You, and Let Go of the Pressure

Many of us, especially as creatives, tend to put a lot of emphasis on the end result. It’s natural—wanting our work to be perfect, to succeed, or to make a difference. But here’s the truth: when we focus too much on the outcome, we can unintentionally create barriers for ourselves. We might start feeling insecure, caught in perfectionism, or even afraid to begin at all.

So, next time you start a project—whether it’s a business idea, a piece of art, or a personal goal—pause for a moment. Ask yourself: What outcome am I already attached to before I even begin? Recognize these expectations, thank them for their voice, and then gently set them aside.

Instead, ask yourself these empowering questions:

1.        How do I feel about this project right now, if I let go of the outcome?

2.       While I work on it, how do I want to feel?

3.       When I finish, can I be happy with it just as it is—free from attachment to perfection or approval?

Grow Where You Are Planted

Remember, the journey is just as important as the destination. When you focus on creating because it brings you joy, growth, and expression, the pressure to control the outcome begins to lift.

I have a sign in my office that says, “Chase your dreams with a passion that makes it impossible for your fears to keep up.” For me, fears often stem from external pressures or comparisons—things outside my true passion or my real capabilities. But when I focus on what I love and what makes me feel alive, those fears become less dominant.

So, I encourage you: Create boldly, freely, and for the love of the process.

Trust that your work will find its way and that your worth isn’t defined by the result. Your creative journey is a gift—embrace it with passion and let go of the need for perfection.

You’ve got this!
